Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 for A Celebration of Mike's Life at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. Following the service, everyone will be invited to the reception at Ridout's Southern Heritage, Pelham.
Mike was born on August 9, 1958, to Louis Pink and Evelyn Marie Barker in Flagstaff, AZ. He was raised in Crystal Springs, MS and moved to the Birmingham, AL metro area in 1994. He worked throughout his life in a variety of jobs, eventually retiring from a long career in the railroad industry. He was an avid football and baseball fan, particularly of the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed westerns, science fiction, and fishing.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Francis Crooks of Vick, LA and Ailene Barker Hynum of Vicksburg, MS. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amanda Webb Barker originally of Hazlehurst, MS; his children, Kevin Barker of Greenwood, SC; Erin Gioia of Pelham, AL; Lindsey Insalaco (Travis) of Greenwood, SC; Elizabeth Gioia of Birmingham, AL; and Ryan Barker of Pelham, AL; granddaughter Alli Grace Insalaco; brother, Kenneth Barker (Lisa) of Crystal Springs, MS; sisters, Iva Jean Guillot of Marksville, LA; Betty Jo Berry of Crystal Springs, MS; and Virginia Smith (Clyde) of Crystal Springs, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
