After the sudden passings of both his father and brother in a short span, Lonny devoted his life to caring for his widowed mother and to raising his nieces and nephew. He was faithful to fill his brother’s shoes in every way. Lonny never missed a parent’s meeting, doctor’s appointment, competition, recital, graduation, or birthday. He passed on his love of reading, and in every new dorm room he moved his niece into he made sure to install sturdy bookshelves. He walked her down the aisle and became a deeply loved great Uncle to a small army of great nieces and nephews. He was a dedicated librarian by trade at the local Vestavia Hills Public Library for 40yrs before retiring to care for his dying sister. He loved his dogs, traveling, and helping people in anyway he could. Lonny was a truly lousy cook and easily the kindest man to ever live.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William C Terry and Ethel L Terry, brother, Thomas Eugene Terry, and sister, Linda Louise Terry. He is survived by his brother, William Ray Terry (Susan). Nieces and Nephews; Young Ray Terry, Brenda Lee Terry, and Elisha Kim Terry Burkhalter (Christopher Steven). Great Nieces and Nephews; Nicole and Casey, Lucille Jenice Burkhalter, Theodore Steven Burkhalter, Samora Mae Burkhalter, Greta Louise Burkhalter, Roger Lukas Burkhalter, and Acadia Grace Burkhalter.
