Bette Louise “Lisa” Lamb, of Birmingham, passed away on April 22, 2014. She was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, later moved to the Birmingham, Alabama area in her teen years and attended Pelham High School.
Lisa was very active in school and enjoyed cheerleading and track. After high school, she obtained an education degree from the University of Alabama and later a Masters of Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While at the University of Alabama, she was an active member of the Phi Mu sorority and forged many lifelong friendships there.
Lisa was a dearly loved and respected teacher in the Shelby County school system for 13 years. She touched and had a positive impact on so many young people’s lives. After teaching for the first few years, she met and married her husband, Michael, and started their special family. After the birth of their second child, she became a full time mother at home, but still remained actively involved in the education system and associations working to shape young people’s lives. She so dearly loved her family and friends, and enjoyed traveling to the beach. Lisa also loved watching her sons’ sports events and college football.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Michael Edward Lamb; sons, Jacob Michael Lamb and Zachary Bassett Lamb; parents, Jeffrey and Bette Bassett; brother, Daniel Bassett; sisters, Kathleen Swinney (Dabo) and Ann Cicero (David); and grandparents, George and Dorothy Morrow. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Ruth Bassett.
Lisa Lamb was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, and was known for her determined and honest spirit. Her celebration of life will be at 2:00 pm at Church of the Highlands – Greystone on Saturday, April 26, 2014, with burial following at Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lisa’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
