Joseph Gilbert Blankenship

January 23, 1926 – April 29, 2018

Joseph Gilbert Blankenship, 92, of Alabaster, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Joseph was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was a devoted Christian and loved life.

Mr. Blankenship is preceded in death by his wife, Willodean “Billie” Blankenship; parents, Grover and Pinkey Blankenship; and brothers, Johnny Blankenship, J.C. Blankenship and Berl Blankenship. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Ann Edmondson (Larry), Janice Lynn Lanier, and Cheryl Kay Bramlett (Frankie); grandchildren, Mark Edmondson, Jennifer Morris, Adam Bramlett and Heath Hagood; great-grandchildren, Steven Henderson, Jon Edmondson, Kaylee Morris, Kaleb Morris, Brianna Bramlett, Izzy Bramlett, Faith Hagood, Chloe Hagood and Sophia Hagood; great-great-grandchildren, Ian Edmondson, Stella Edmondson and Emma Edmondson; and his brother, Roy Blankenship, age 98.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1pm until 2pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, along with the celebration of Gilbert’s life at 2pm, officiated by Pastor Larry Jones. Interment will follow at Pelham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gilbert’s memory to the Nifty Fifty Group at Kingwood Church.
