He was born in Birmingham, AL to the late, Samuel Wooddy Strozier Sr. and Clara Mote Strozier. John was a member of the Selective Service Board. He served for over thirty five years with perfect attendance to all meetings and past President. John was also a member of Eastwood Rotary Club, with over ten years of perfect attendance and he was a participant of the Paul Harris fellowship. He was an ordained deacon of Bluff Park Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Indian Springs First Baptist Church and served as a deacon also. He was also a Board member of North Shelby Fire District.
John was a graduate of Shades Valley High School. He worked at a drafting place in Birmingham until he went to work for Brown Engineering in Huntsville, AL. Later, John began working at Strozier Construction Company, Inc. as Vice President and Owner. He worked there for 43 years until his retirement in 2008.
In his leisure, he enjoyed Wood working, boating, Beekeeping, pocket watch repairing, traveling and reading. He also loved cooking on the big rig barbecue grill. John was a member of the Kansas City BBQ Society.
John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patsy Gail Strozier; his children, Jeff Mack (Stacy), Jinger Priest (Russell); grandchildren, Heather Castro (Raul), Amanda Burdette (Josiah), Caroline Dean (Keaton), Jake Harrison (Mackenna Ward), Kayleigh Harrison, Autumn Priest, Brennan Strozier (Katie), John Bradley Strozier (Lauren), Bennett Strozier (Victoria); great-grandchildren, Olivia and Santi Castro, Noah, Adley, Emma Kate and Heidi Burdette, Jackson Strozier and John Reed Strozier; brother, Wooddy Strozier (Faye) and sister, Elaine Sharman (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Indian Springs First Baptist Church from 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm, followed by a service at 2:30 pm. Burial will take place at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
