BUCHANAN, JENNIFER ANNE LEWIS, was born to this life in Haines City, Florida on January 18, 1974. She was born to eternal life on February 8, 2013 surrounded by loving family who prayed for her peaceful journey to her Heavenly Father. She died at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center after a brave fight against a rare form of lymphoma.
Jenifer did not want her life to be defined by her illness; indeed her life was defined by love. Her deepest love was for her husband of six years, Andrew, and their children, Abby and Sam.
Her love was boundless for family: mother, Judith Taft Lewis; father, Donald (Judy) Lewis, Sr.; and brothers, Donald (Reba) Lewis, Jr., David Lewis and Drew Lewis; grandfather, Andrew (Trudy) Taft; mother-in-law, Bebe Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Mary Angeline (Kiumars) Bahri. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles who will always cherish the love she shared. She is predeceased by grandparents, Dwight and Dollie Lewis and Barbara Feader.
Jennifer would want everyone to know of her gratitude for the constant encouragement given to her by her sister-in-law, Mary Angeline Buchanan-Bahri, who was her 24/7 caregiver for 16 difficult months of aggressive treatment and a stem cell transplant.
Jennifer was so full of life. She especially enjoyed going to the beach and boating with family and friends. Many happy times were spent on the sands of the Gulf Coast playing with her children. She never missed a birthday party or family celebration. She was always ready to share a meal with family and friends, either at home or in a good restaurant. Her favorite indulgences included mani-pedi's, having her hair done, and shopping. She had a great sense of fashion in her own easy style and did all she could to stimulate the economy.
She will be remembered for her funny, loving and outgoing personality. She enjoyed a good chat with most anyone and her infectious laughter - which could fill a room - was regular accompaniment. And, with it, Jennifer would soon have been welcoming everyone into the conversation.
Jennifer graduated from Agape Christian School in 1991 and attended Walker Jr. College to become an accountant.
Services will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 5514 Double Oak Lane, Birmingham, AL 35242. The visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
