Jean Peacock Myrick, age 83 of Alabaster, passed away on Saturday, December 14th. Jeanie was born in Selma, Alabama and educated in the Selma City School System. She received a bachelor’s degree from Howard College, now Samford University and a master’s degree from the University of Montevallo. Jeanie was a retired math teacher. She taught in Selma; Columbia, SC; Fort Greeley, AK, and Fort Walton Beach, FL. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham.
Jeanie was a passionate and dedicated math teacher for nearly 40 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She wouldn’t hesitate to start a conversation with a random stranger anywhere in the world and make new friend.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years William (Bill) Myrick Sr., parents Elton and Minnie Peacock, parents-in-law R.B. and Sadie Myrick, and brothers-in-law James and Michael Myrick. She is survived by her son, William (Bud) Myrick Jr. and wife Robin Fox, her daughter, Nicole (Nickie) Myrick Lee, her grandchildren Conner Lee, Abby Lee, Alex Myrick and Sienna Fox-Myrick. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Peacock and his wife Karen and siblings-in-law Byron Myrick and his wife Bobbie, and Cynthia Myrick Granger and her husband Neil Granger as well as nine nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham on Wednesday, December 18th between 4:00 and 7:00 pm. Funeral and burial will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo on Thursday, December 19th at 11:45 am. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church of Pelham.
