Jimmy was born on July 2, 1949, in Birmingham, Alabama where he held a lifetime residency. He was a very loving and loyal son, brother, uncle and friend to all who had the pleasure in meeting him. Jimmy was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Birmingham. He had many hobbies including painting, writing, watching the stock market but out of all of his hobbies, his favorite was watching Alabama Athletic events while drinking a coke. Jimmy also loved a good party and a good story to share with everyone.
He spent a good portion of his adulthood working at East Lake Auto Parts and Alabama Crank Shaft where he gained many great lifetime friends.
He is survived by nieces; Bobbye Hoyt (Patrick), Gemini Edwards (Scott), Ashley Cummings (Brad), Nicole Cummings, Kaylee Cummings and Blakely Cummings; nephews, Fred Stone, Henry Hoyt, Joseph Edwards, and Bradley Cummings along with many friends, but most of all his best friend, Debra Shows.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents Joe and Marjorie Thomason, sisters Joann Thomason, Dale Thomason and Landis Haynes.
A visitation will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Jimmy's Life will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
