April 15, 1960 - May 15, 2020
The “life of the party,” James Michael Bozeman, known as Mike, unexpectedly went through the veil Friday, May 15, 2020. His loud laughter still echoes in the minds of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years JaNae; and children Jonathan (Joy) Bozeman, Jessica (Skylar) Knight, Jason Bozeman, and Jennifer (Johnson) Leigh. Also survived by his mother, Sara Bozeman; his sister, Miki (Mike) Lety; and grandchildren, Eva, 10, Jacob, 3, and Samuel, 1. He is preceded in death by his father, James “Buddy” Bozeman, who certainly was anxiously preparing to receive him.
Mike, 60, was a resident of Helena, AL, for 33 years, but was born and raised in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Lowndes Academy as Valedictorian. Baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 12, Mike became more involved in church during his college years thru the social activities.
After graduating from Troy (State) University with a Bachelors in Computer Science with a minor in Business, Mike served a mission for the church to Leeds, England. Two and a half weeks after returning from his missionary service, his prayers to meet a worthy companion were answered when he met JaNae at a church dance. The sparks flew as they did cartwheels across the dance floor together. They were married January 4,1985.
He worked as a computer analyst and became self-employed when he created Alasoft in 1991. His focus was in networking for small businesses, and was instrumental in connecting the first computer lab at Helena Elementary.
Mike’s business evolved over the years and he continued under the name Optiwave Communications until the time of his death. He was a member of the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and had a passion for Alabama Football, church basketball, and traveling with JaNae.
Always willing to serve, he held various callings in the church including a Bishop for five years, a Young Single Adult advisor for eight years, Church Service Missionary for the Pathway Education program for two years, and was most recently co-teaching with JaNae an early morning seminary class for high school age students for one year.
