Guila Larrayne Miller passed from this life June 23, 2020 at the age of 100 in Columbiana, Alabama. Born April 1, 1920 in Spencer, Indiana Guila graduated from Cloverdale High School and entered adulthood working at The Sweet Shop located on the Purdue University Campus. There she made four lifelong friends who were also blessed with longevity, one of whom also reached the age of 100. While there she encountered several notable people of the era including Jimmy Doolittle and her husband to be Perry Miller.
Guila was a voracious reader, expert seamstress and quilt maker as well as a master gardner. She enjoyed traveling and journeyed to Africa, transited the Panama Canal, and visited every State in the union as well as Canada. Always ready for an adventure she celebrated her 95th birthday by going aloft in a glider.
She is survived by son Jay (Marquita) and grandaughters Jessica Majors (Jonathan) and Danielle Haithcock (Trent).
She was preceded in death by her son John Miller, sister Lenore Cooper, brother Dewey Smiley, and Father Virgil Smiley and Mother Faith (Frazier).
Humble and unassuming to the end she was known for her quick wit and impish smile.
She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
