Connie was born on March 22, 1936 in Bruce, Mississippi, but also had roots in Memphis, Tennessee, Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and has been a resident of Birmingham, Alabama since 1985.
Connie was employed at Robins and Morton for twenty-three years, where her adoration for her job was mirrored by that of the interns, coworkers, and everyone she came into contact with. She was also a member at Lakeside Baptist Church for over thirty years. As an active member, she led many Sunday school classes as well as the Single/Single Again ministry and rarely missed a Sunday at church. Connie was known for her steadfast faith, her dedication for growing the kingdom of God, and for being a prayer warrior with “a hotline to Heaven”.
Connie will be remembered as a loyal friend, loving mother, and dedicated grandmother. Those close to her will always be fond of her classic stories, sincere companionship, and her ability to love deeply.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Larry Weldon Eaton, her daughter Laura Rachael Eaton, her parents, Rudolph and Exie Vanlandingham, and her sisters, Margaret Vanlandingham Story and Elizabeth Vanlandingham Caughron Montgomery. She is survived by her son Kurt Eaton (Sarah) and grandchildren Paul Eaton, Taylor Eaton, Annabelle King and Woodson King, her daughter Cathy Eaton Whitfield (Daryl), grandson Whit Whitfield (Abby), great-grandsons Grady Parks and Shepherd Wade Whitfield, granddaughter Kaye Leigh Whitfield Rasco (Chaz), and great-granddaughter Addison Marie Rasco. She also leaves behind other beloved members of her family and countless friends.
A celebration of her amazing life will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, December 4th.
