It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Connie Carter, who departed from this world on May 31st, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will forever be etched in our hearts. Her unwavering devotion to her family, her passion for Alabama football, her leadership in the grief share support group, her melodious tunes on the piano, and her unwavering faith as a Godly woman were just a few of the many ways she touched the lives of those around her.
Born on July 2nd, 1940 in Dothan, Alabama, Connie grew up with a deep love for her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and was always the glue that held everyone together. Her warm smile, tender heart, and nurturing spirit made her the pillar of strength for her family, offering comfort, guidance, and unwavering love in times of joy and sorrow.
Alabama football held a special place in Connie's heart. She could often be found cheering passionately for her favorite team, clad in crimson and white, with a contagious enthusiasm that could light up a room. Whether it was gathering around the television with loved ones or listening to them on the radio, while talking with friends, she reveled in the camaraderie and excitement that came with being an avid fan. The memories of her jubilant celebrations, spirited conversations about the game, and her love for Coach Nick Saban will forever echo in our hearts.
In addition to her love for football, Connie also dedicated her time and energy to leading a grief share support group within the community. With boundless empathy and a listening ear, she provided solace and guidance to those who were navigating the difficult journey of grief. Her genuine care and understanding helped many find strength and healing in their darkest hours. The impact she made on the lives of others through her leadership and compassion will be remembered by all who sought comfort in her presence.
Music was a source of immense joy and solace for Connie, and her piano playing was truly a gift to behold. The melodies she created echoed through the walls of her home, filling the air with a sense of peace and tranquility. Her hands gracefully danced across the keys, pouring her heart and soul into every note. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Carter; her parents, Nettie Ruth and John Thomas Standifer; sister-in-law, Pat Oreen.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Kristi (Clark Parker) and April (Bryan A. Cobb); grandchildren, Kristina Parker Noto (Andrew), Victoria Parker Pratt (Connor), Grayson Parker Burch (Austin), Jakob Braden Cobb, Ashton Lane Cobb; great-grandchildren, Emma Clark Noto, Elliot Blake Noto, Stella James Noto, Axel Rollins Pratt, Ace Wyatt Pratt; sister, Jackie (Jerry Carter); sister-in-law, Debra Franks; brother-in-law, Jimmy Green.
