After retiring from U.S. Steel with 30 years of service, Chester drove for Baggett Transportation for 17 years. He was a long-time member of Chelsea Church of God, and was a Mason for more than 50 years with lifetime membership.
Chester was predeceased by his parents, Lee and Pauline Johnson; wife of 51 years, Mildred Lee Johnson; and one brother, Fred Roland Johnson.
Survivors include Chester's wife, Ella Thomasine Hamm Johnson; one daughter, Ann Johnson Hunter; one grandson, Chester Wayne Harris; one sister, Dorothy "Dot" England (Pierce); sister-in-law, Faye Johnson; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Chelsea Church of God, with the Celebration of Chester's Life immediately following at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial, K-Springs Cemetery, Chelsea.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
