Carolyn King passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014. She was born in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Pan American College in Edinburg, Texas with a BA in Elementary Education. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at LSU in Baton Rouge. Carolyn taught in many places including a school in Beeville, Texas, Stoner Hill Elementary and First Baptist Church School, both in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Central School in Grand Cane, Louisiana. In addition to her passion for teaching young people, Carolyn also enjoyed singng in the choir at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana.
Mrs. King is preceded in death by her parents, Ardis Nolan Saxon and Jessie Fields Saxon; and by her husband, Joel Gulledge King. She is survived by her sons, Gary Layne Montcalm, Kevin Lee Montcalm, David Blake Montcalm and Ryan Saxon Montcalm; step-sons, Clay King and Jeff King; grandchildren, Matthew Louis Montcalm, Nathan Ravel Montcalm, Natalia Montcalm, Zachary Montcalm, Trevin Montcalm and Reese Wynn Montcalm; great grandchild, Kai Montcalm and cousin, Jerry Taylor.
The celebration of Mrs. King’s life will be at 2pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
