Bruce Lee McKee

Bruce L. McKee, age 62, (b.12-28-53, d. 2-13-2016) passed away Saturday evening, February 13, 2016, at his home. Having suffered a lengthy illness, Bruce was surrounded by family and close friends at the time of his passing.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Dorothy Frey McKee. He is survived by his loving wife, Dale Duppenthaler McKee, of 35 years; their 5 sons Travis, Trevor, Trace, Trent and Tripp McKee; siblings Cynthia Norris (Dick); Bob McKee (Anna); Julia Sloan; Carolyn McKee; a loving sister-in-law, Diane Duppenthaler (Dick Lallos); and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Coronado, California to a military family Bruce traveled extensively while growing up. He was a member and former President at Riverchase Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends. He loved spending time with his family at the beach in Sandestin, Florida. Bruce spent 37 years at Enterprise Rent-A-Car starting with the company in Orlando, Florida then moving to Washington, D.C. and most recently as President/General Manager in Birmingham, Alabama where he and his family have resided since 1990. Family, friends and all who’s life he touched will honor Bruce with a memorial and reception at the Sheraton Hotel ballroom, Downtown Birmingham Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life immediately following from 3:00-5:00.

A dedicated son, brother, husband and father, Bruce was deemed a trusted adviser, coach and mentor to many whose lives he touched. Bruce was a friend to all who knew him: Bruce's success in life was based on his life's mission statement of “doing the right things for the right reasons”. In keeping with that sentiment, the family is asking for donations to Camp Smile A Mile www.campsam.org in lieu of flowers. All are welcome.
