Billy (Bill) Dwayn Eddleman of Mountain Brook passed away on March 25, 2020. Bill was born on December 4, 1929 in Cullman, Alabama to the late William Eli Eddleman and Myrtie Hodges Eddleman. He is survived by his wife Barbara Eddleman, his son Doug Eddleman (Karen), his daughter Susan Waldrum (Mike), and his stepdaughter Cameron Acheson (John Marusich). Also, he is survived by his seven-grandchildren: Elizabeth Estess (Grant), Emily Saunders (Jim), Will Eddleman (Katherine), Annie Moore (Hudson), Julia Haley (Hunter), Michael Waldrum Jr. (Rebekah), and Sarah Waldrum, all of whom called him Daddy Bill. In addition, he has eight great grandchildren: David Estess, Evie Marelle Estess, Amelia Estess, James Austin Saunders, Hunter Saunders, Olivia Moore, Charlotte Moore and Jack Eddleman. Bill is pre-deceased by his wife of 54-years Bobbie Dunkin Eddleman, his brother Olin and his sisters Jackie and Elon. Bill spent his youth in Cullman County graduating from Cullman High School and Howard College, and achieving the milestone of being the first high school and college graduate in his family. After college and during the Korean War he served for four years in the United States Air Force. His life in Birmingham began in 1956 working as a CPA and co-founding an accounting firm in 1963. The firm went on to become Till, Eddleman, Hester, Eyer and Brown. Bill had a strong entrepreneurial spirit born out of his hard-working farm life and his early success, as a ten-year old boy raising and trading farm animals. He was a partner in many business endeavors. He was a part-owner of many car dealership franchises, apartment projects and several other operating businesses. In addition, he partnered with his son Doug Eddleman in the Eddleman Properties real estate development firm in Shelby County developing communities along the 280 corridor. One of Bill's lifelong endeavors was being involved with Canterbury United Methodist Church, which led to him being Chairman of the Church Council in 1977. He was involved in local philanthropy efforts as a long-time member of the Hillcrest Foundation's Board of Directors. He was a past member of the Birmingham Downtown Rotary Club, Vestavia Country Club, Shoal Creek and The Club. Bill had many great friends and outstanding business partners. He brought the best out in others and was loved and cherished and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
