Betty Moore Jones-Moon

Betty Ruth Moore Jones-Moon, 83, was born April 13, 1933,and passed away on October 10, 2016. Betty Ruth was the daughter of Esther and Marlin Moore, the youngest of their four children. She loved her family and absolutely adored her sweet Mama. A southern gal through and through, she was born and raised in Shelby County and graduated from Thompson High School in 1951. Her pride and greatest joy were her four children: Larry Galloway, Susan Greenway, Bill Jones and Jennifer White and her seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Before joining the workforce to support her family, she loved serving as a Girl Scout Troop leader for her daughter, Susan. She enjoyed her 25 years of service working at BellSouth/AT&T, where she also served as president of the Alabama BellSouth Pioneers Birmingham Life Member Club,1999-2000. Betty also loved retirement! She married Duncan Moon and they traveled and danced at the VFW every week. She loved to sing, travel, and the companionship of her little dogs, Angel and Chelsea. Everyone she ever met, even if it was briefly, knew she loved Alabama football! Betty had a big personality and a big heart. She gave her heart as fully as she could to her family. She will be remembered and cherished for the blessing she was to us. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to send donations to Alzheimer's of Central Alabama.
