Born June 27, 1936 in Mason County to Haywood S. “Woody” and Florence Evelyn (Vale) Lindsey, he married Virginia Lee Fitzanko on September 10, 1955 in Pekin. He later married Connie L. (Baumgardner) Burton on June 27, 1996 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Tim) Cunningham of Ft. Myers, Florida and Denise (Brad) Heitzman of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; four sons, William (Marcie) Lindsey of West Chester, Ohio, Matthew Lindsey of Manito, Chad (Sally) Burton of Virden and Shane (Emily) Burton of Sherman; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Bertha Haverkamp of Metropolis and Donna (Roger) Frampton of South Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Joyce Lindsey, Joan Lindsey, Janice Denton and Martha Hayden.
Bill was a trooper with the Illinois State Police for 24 years, retiring in 1991. He farmed in retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and at one time trap shooting. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
His graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Brian Durbin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
