Wendy Lyles

She was born February 1, 1952 in Peoria to Jack and Harriet (Wells) Hillyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carolyn Nelson and her significant other of 35 years, Richard Avery.

Surviving are one daughter, Sherry (Mark) Fisher of Houston; one son, Sonny (Jodi) Lyles of Maine; one step-daughter, Joy (Ron) Petitt of Pekin; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; eight step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael (Paulette) Hillyer of Metamora; many nieces and nephews and her cat, Reba.

Wendy had worked as a retail clerk for 30-plus years at the Butternut Store in Pekin until its closing.

She loved playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles and playing word games. She also loved spending time with her family and vacationing with Ron and Joy.

Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
