Born February 12, 1935 in Pekin to Elmer Tyler, she married Edward Zielinski, Jr. in August of 1951 in Roswell, NM. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Steven (Cheryl) Zielinski of Pekin; two daughters, Cindy Evans of Pekin and Jackie Zielinski of Germantown, TN; five grandchildren, Sarah Gilmore, Amanda (Ryan) Rutledge, Jason Davis, Stephanie Evans and Calvin Sadler; three great-grandchildren; and one step-brother, Dale Evans of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Pat Scott.
Shirley worked for Canteen Corporation for many years, retiring as a supervisor at the Caterpillar Mapleton Foundry.
She was a former member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter #673.
Shirley enjoyed gardening and was an animal lover. She loved feeding the neighborhood squirrels and rabbits.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Ronald Little will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
