Born December 17, 1940 in Paducah, Kentucky to Thomas Rudy and Lettiamae (Attebury) Reid, he married Sharon K. Schott on August 4, 1963 in Pekin.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years; two sons, Bradley (Patricia) Reid of Chicago and Curtis Ryan (Tammy) Reid of Pekin and two grandchildren, Natalie Reid and Delaney Reid, both of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dewayne Reid and Thomas Rudy Reid, II.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He had worked as an electrician at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He was also a former member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.
Ron was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Josh Beutow will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
