Richard I. Hazlett

Born July 25, 1937 in Clinton to Harry and Leila Edith (Nelson) Hazlett, he married Joyce Byrd on June 20, 1964 in Pekin. She died March 12, 1988. He later married Mary Bennett in 2007. She died February 18, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy Damon; one granddaughter, Jennifer Estes; one brother, Harry “Gene” Hazlett and his beloved son-in-law, Dannie “Lucky” Reagan.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Reagan of Topeka, who was his caretaker and Joy Harper of Canton; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rich was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 30-plus years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.

Rich enjoyed playing poker machines, going to the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino and drinking cold beer in the garage with his son-in-law, Lucky.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private inurnment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
