Raymond J. “Ray” DeMaria, 81 of Peoria, formerly of Massachusetts and Florida, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 at UnityPoint Health Proctor in Peoria. He was born in Framingham, MA on August 14, 1938, a son of Antonio and Catherine (Lacortiglia) DeMaria. He married Barb Perry on September 12, 1997 in Peoria, she survives.
Also surviving are his son, Raymond J. (Amanda) DeMaria, II of Peoria; several step-children; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemarie O’Loughlin; and two brothers, Louis and Lawrence DeMaria. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Adeline Guerra; and two brothers, Clement and Carl DeMaria.
Ray was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard.
He worked as a correctional officer for the State of Florida for many years. Ray’s hobby was tinkering with electronics and he loved his five cats and spoiled them.
Ray’s funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Rev. Keith Thibo will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria with military honors.
