Paul was born Jan. 25, 1936 in Peoria, IL the son of Andrew and Isla (Cleer) Flowers Sr. They preceded him in death. Paul married Doris Elaine Kemp on Nov. 17, 1956. She passed away Nov. 4, 1998. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, and two brothers.
He is survived by two children, Brenda Painter (Danny Walters) and David (Michelle) Flowers both of Marquette Heights. A special niece and nephew that he and Doris raised, Sandi (Jim) Chamblin and Gary (Deb) Shannon; four grandchildren, Jason (Amber), Jennifer (Matt), Jamie (Daniel), and Jordan (Eddie); eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Allison, Caitlin, Hannah, Nicholas, Hailey, Addison, and Jaden; five sisters, Wanda Richardson, Martha Cole, Carol (Ed) Russell, Christina (Danny) Sinacori, and Leah Joy Sebring; and three brothers, Homer (Sharon) Flowers, Louis (Mary) Mellott, and Aaron (Teresa) Flowers.
Paul worked for Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 1997. Paul had a heart of gold, loving his family, friends and everyone he was around, never knowing or meeting a stranger.
He enjoyed playing bingo, tinkering with lawn mowers, traveling, playing cards as well as being known as the “Walking Billboard for Mickies Pizzeria”.
Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, with Pastor Fred Doughty officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest next to his loving wife of 41 years at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
