Born August 29, 1945 in Pekin to Joseph Andrew and Carlotta Marie (Jackson) Schott, Sr., she married Norman Louis Tharp on October 26, 1963 in Pekin. He died December 15, 2000 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald Schott.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Louis Tharp of Green Valley and Dirk Aaron (Melissa) Tharp of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Jacobs of Pekin, Ian Tharp of Moline, Dakoda Tharp, Emilia Tharp and Logan Tharp of Green Valley, Dirk Tharp Jr., Mackenzie Tharp, and Aiden Sutton, of Pekin, David (Jazzmine) Tharp of Pekin, and three great grandchildren, Landon, Cayden and Lyla and one brother, Joseph (Christine) Schott, Jr. of Pekin. Many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A homemaker, Nancy had worked part time at Talk of the Town Hair Designs in Pekin, beginning in March 1987 until her retirement in 2001.
Nancy was a member of the Women’s Bowling League in Pekin for many years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing Sudoku. She was a wealth of knowledge, always knowing what was going on in the world. Nancy was very thorough about documenting the finest details, especially of the ones she loved. Nancy's home was the neighborhood hangout for all the kids. Nancy also enjoyed knitting. She spent many hours making afghans for each of her grand kids and children. She also enjoyed making various crafts and sewing.
She had a deep genuine love for her grandchildren and a love for her pets she had over the years that included: Lucky, Lady, Penny, Smudge, Squeaky, Tootsie, Chubs, Mopey, Whimpy and Jozie.
Her visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation and burial will be at a later date at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
