Maxine was born August 24, 1926 in Keokuk, Iowa to Chester and Evelyn (Sneberg) Woods. She married the love of her life, Howard Parkin on April 14, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Woods.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen (Thelmer) Cline of Pekin; three sons, Scott (Lori) Parkin, Tracy (Debbie) Parkin both of Pekin, Chris Parkin of Manito; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Kerry, Joshua, Cortney, Jennie, Todd, Lindsey; 13 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher, Clodagh, Michael, Orla, Lilly, Corbyn, Carter, Callie, Ellis, Thea, Hyatt, Emlinn and one sister-in-law, Mary Woods.
Maxine worked as a bank teller for many years at Herget Bank and various other banks in Pekin.
Maxine was a member and active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pekin for many years and was part of the Women’s Guild and taught Sunday School. She was active in Nearly Nu and the Hospital League for over 50 years.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting, spending time with family and friends and traveling all over the world. She once hitchhiked through Glacier Park.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Pekin. Father Christopher Simpson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
