Born June 23, 1985 in San Diego, California, he was the son of Robert R. and Penny D. (Simon) Rose, Jr.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; his father of Round Lake; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Morsch of Pekin; his mentor and friend of nine years, Terry Henricks of Pekin; his adopted uncle, Chris Johnson of Washington and Matthew’s honorary nieces, Jadalynn Eddy and Briella Eddy. He also leaves a host of friends and patrons of his lawn care business.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert “Pete” Simon, William E. Morsch, Robert Rose, Sr. and Valeria Rose. His uncle, Michael W. Simon also preceded him in death.
Matt was a 2003 graduate of Pekin Community High School. He was a hard worker and in addition to his lawn care business, he also had worked at Let It Shine Car Wash in Pekin for Dave Calhoun. Matt always had a smile that was contagious, never forgot when it was time to eat and always loved to run the vacuum.
He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and will be remembered as a sharp young man.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Chuck Tate will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Green Bay Packer attire is welcome. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
