Born July 13, 1947 in Pekin, he was the son of Knud and Kathryn (Cash) Svendsen. His parents preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob (Carol) Svendsen, Dan (Joni) Svendsen, Byron Svendsen and Terry Svendsen and one sister, Yvonne Keyster.
Surviving are three daughters, Shalene (Dennis) Svendsen-Ward of Peoria, Danna (Bradley) Davis and Dynae (Gary) Schmitt, his twin daughters both of East Peoria; seven grandchildren, Rhiannon Ward, Natalie Davis, Cayden Schmitt, Hailey Schmitt, Lachlan Ward and twins, Whitney and Wendy Davis; three brothers, David (Donna) Svendsen, Tom (Sharon) Svendsen, Mike (Barb) Svendsen, all of Pekin and two sisters, Sonja (Guy) Stanford of Canada and Margie Baxter of Oregon.
Jack was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 to 1970.
He was self-employed as a painter and associated with Svendsen Construction. In addition to construction, he also farmed.
He loved spending time with his family on the farm and at the cabin, playing horseshoes, fishing and playing Euchre. He also was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He also was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Archbishop Schlarman Council 3507 in Pekin.
His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
