Born Jul. 16, 1926 in Delavan to Lovel and Mattie (Arnold) Null, he married 3 times and had 1 son born in 1937. His last marriage to Elma Campbell Seldon on Mar.6, 1969 in Costa Mesa Calif. lasted 37 years, prior to her passing on Mar. 1, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his 3 former wives; 1 son, Warren “Butch” Null; 4 sisters; and 1 brother..
Surviving are his step-son, John (Jeanne) Seldon of Long Beach;2 grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A World War II vet, Jim joined the Navy at age 16, serving from 191943-45 and re-enlisted from 1948-49.
He was also a past master of Lodge#263 AF & AM in Peoria in 1965.
Jim worked for Bemis Bag Company in Peoria and Wilmington, Calif., retiring as an industrial mechanic after 35 years.
An avid HAM radio operator (W6MRL), he was a regular volunteer in the radio room of the Queen Mary after it was permanently docked in Long Beach.
He loved boating, fishing, gardening and helping others
His memorial service and Masonic Rites will be at 2 p.m., Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
