ELMWOOD ~ Hazel Eleanor Logsdon, 88, of 5118 North Texas Road, passed away at 3 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her residence. She was formerly of Pekin.Born Aug. 20, 1921 in Green Valley to John William and Ila Marie (Campbell) Havens, she married Lennie B. Logsdon. He died November 5, 1983 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two step-sons, Lyle Lee Logsdon and James William Logsdon; one step-daughter, Florence Marie Stark; two brothers, Edward "Ed" Havens and Ora "Pud" Havens; and three sisters, Oma Bell, Rosa Mae Artman, and Lorene Miller.Surviving are three daughters, Anne Kay Watson of Morton, Janet Sue (Ronald) Tardif of Niceville, FL and Tina Dianne (Fred) Christ of Elmwood with whom she made her home; one step-son, Ora W. Logsdon of Abingdon, whom she raised; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one sister, Ancile Esther (Ray) Radcliff of Pekin. Hazel worked as an instructor for Boss Glove Manufacturing Company in Peoria for 8 years, last working in 1948.She was a former member of Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Pekin.Hazel's greatest joy was caring for her family, watching her grandchildren grow up, cooking, crocheting, and reading Christian books.Her visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Jim Plattner, minister, officiating.
