Born October 28, 1920 in Pekin to Fred and Katherine (Kramer) Bonnette, he married Betty A. Sheets on October 14, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana. She died June 27, 2013 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Betty L. Hogue on February 28, 2012; two infant sons, Terry Lee Bonnette and James Harold Bonnette; one great-grandson; two brothers, Earl Bonnette and Ferd Bonnette; four step-brothers, Walt Remmer, George Remmer, Bill Remmer and John Remmer and a stepsister, Annie Waremburg.
Surviving are one son, Danny (Cynthia) Bonnette of Pekin; three daughters, Brenda (Don) Cross of Green Valley, and Carolyn (Mike Hull) Wolfer and Tammie (Eric) Judd, both of Pekin; son-in-law, Robert Hogue, Sr. of Naperville; nineteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Roy S. Bonnette, both of Pekin.
Harold was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served in Iwo Jima.
He worked for Corn Products Company in Pekin for 35 years, retiring in 1981. Prior to that, he had worked at an aluminum factory in Indiana.
He was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.
Harold enjoyed working around the home, was very talented and could fix anything. He enjoyed being close to family and loved his grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Matthew Bonnette, his grandson, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
