She was born July 23, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas the sixth of eight children of George Washington and Elsie Mabel (Bolio) Beeney. Evelyn married William A. Geier on December 1, 1951 in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Michael (Lorene) Geier, Brian E. (Lisa) Geier, both of Pekin, Raymond M. Geier of Boulder, Colorado and David Alan Geier of Fort Pierce, Florida; three daughters, Terrie (Darrell) Neville, Debbie (Paul) Bruner, both of Pekin and Karen (Steve) Swadinsky of Fort Wayne, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Kay) Beeney of East Peoria; and one sister, Vera Beeney of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Don Beeney, Ted Beeney, Cliff Beeney, Walt Beeney and Dewey Beeney and one grandson Todd Bruner.
Evelyn received her nursing degree from Graham Hospital in Canton. She then worked for a short time at Graham Hospital and at Pekin Hospital. After she and her husband started a family, her life was dedicated to caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed bowling and working in her garden.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where her funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006. Father David Whiteside will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
