Born May 18, 1939 in Magnolia, Illinois to Ardell and Dorothy Mae (Nixon) Schultz, he married Patricia Ann “Pat” Backus on May 12, 1962 in Helens Run, West Virginia. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2017 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Teresa Schultz.
Surviving are four sons, Edwin “Ed” Schultz, Jr. of Marquette Heights, Bill Schultz of Green Valley, Dave (Connie) Schultz of Mapleton and Aaron (Stormy) Schultz of Marquette Heights; one daughter, Christie (Joe) Huffman of Marquette Heights; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Lorraine Simmons of Kansas City, Missouri, Patricia Lou Schultz of Peoria and Vicki Lynn Williams of Utah.
He served with the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962.
Edwin retired as a Millwright from Caterpillar Inc. after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in East Peoria and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, painting and working with his flowers and gardening.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor John Bunch will officiate. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held 3 pm Friday, September, 9 2022 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
