Born August 15, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri, to Vincent and Bernice (Bogard) Eckhold, he married his first wife Patricia (Berardi) in June of 1967 whom he had two children with. He then married the love of his life, Linda Buhs on December 31, 1984. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Eckhold; and one nephew, Danny Haidar.
Surviving are three daughters; Heather (Steve) Fitzanko, Tammy (Curt) Davis, Rose (Burdell) Cain; three sons, Sean (Jennifer) Eckhold, Sam (Tina) Bill, Jim (Ruth) Bill Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six sisters; Cathie (Jim) Tranchitella, Toni (Grant) Cox, Milli Eckhold, Tammy (Jeff) Blacet, Pam (Bill) VanAntwerp, Patti Eckhold; two brothers, Ben (Gail) Eckhold, Tim Eckhold, and sister-in-law, Chris Eckhold.
He worked as a Carpenter for over 37 years retiring in 2009 from Roeckers. Edward was a Jack-of-All-Trades fixing and tinkering with anything and everything. In his free time he would work on puzzles, garden at home, and spend all the time he could with his children and grandchildren. He loved to help others with their projects and specifically woodworking projects, he always said the more challenging the better. Edward Eckhold “Difficult things I do right away. Impossible things take a little longer”.
Edward will not only be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, but as a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran.
Memorial Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday October 1, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Pekin. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be folowed.
Burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield will be held at a later date. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
