Born December 19, 1972 in Pekin to Robert Lee and Delores Naomi Gertrude (Stolt) Speck, he married Lannette Lorena Wooten on June 28, 1997 in Sherman.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years: five sons, Dylan Speck, twin sons, Cameron Speck and Connor Speck, Avery Speck and Barret Speck, all of Mapleton; his mother, Delores Gresham of North Pekin and two brothers, Darrel (Tracy) Speck and Dale (Mary) Speck, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Dennis worked at Bobcat of Peoria in Bellevue as a salesman for 21 years, last working Friday, March 15, 2024.
He was a wrestling coach for 12 years, including serving as assistant coach at Illini Bluffs Junior High School. Dennis also served 13 years as Rough Stock Director for Illinois Jr. Rodeo where 12 years of which he also served with the Illinois Jr. High Rodeo.
A loving and dedicated husband, father, son and brother, Dennis was a jack of all trades with a caring heart for all those around him. He spent six years dancing professionally with the Just Us Dance Team, where they did demos and competitions in which they placed 1st place for their dance routines.
Dennis also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family, especially coaching his sons and spending time on the rodeo circuit with them.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Dennis had a heart of gold that was caring and giving. He continued this trait with donation to Gift of Hope helping others.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
