Charles Robert Maskel

Born June 6, 1928 in Georgetown to Jess and Effie (Good) Maskel, he married Leatha Mae Gray on May 21, 1949 in Bloomington. She died February 24, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Brandi Maskel; three sisters, Dorothy, Juanita and Midge; three brothers, Frank, Clarence and J.D. and one sister-in-law, Mary Maskel.

Surviving are two daughters, Juliann (Tom) Slicko of Florida and Dawn Maskel of Canton; three grandchildren, Brittany Maskel, Joshua (Hanna) Wagner and Mallory Wagner; eight great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Maskel, Breanna Maskel, Patience Toungett, Dayton Williams, Bentley Moore, Titan Moore, Joshua Wagner and Charlotte Wagner; one brother, Bill Maskel of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was a veteran of the United States Army.

He worked in the rod mill for Keystone Wire & Steel in Bartonville, retiring in 1982.

Chuck enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed reading western novels written by William Johnstone.

His private graveside will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
