He was born December 9, 1960 in Pekin to Carl Vincent and Margaret Ann (Matkovich) Geier. His parents and one infant brother, Bernard Geier, preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Roxanne Geier of Peoria Heights; two sisters, Mary (Doug) Kelley of Webster, New York and Caryl (Craig) Hoobler of Bloomington; one brother, Mark Geier of Normal; three nieces, Angela Horan, Janet Teegarden, and Danica Kelley; and one nephew, Joshua Kelley.
Chuck owned and operated Roxy’s Lanes in Pekin for 31 years, retiring in September of 2019. He began working at Roxy’s at the age of 16.
He was a member of the Greater Pekin Bowling Association and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He had bowled seven 300 games and had three 800 series. His highest series was 834 and his career average was 222. He also enjoyed playing soft-ball for many years.
Chuck was a St. Louis Cardinals and Beatles fan. He always enjoyed going to the Cardinals Caravan Winter Warm-up with family and friends. Chuck took great pride in serving as his dad’s escort for the Greater Peoria Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on May 3, 2016.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and the Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
Chuck will be remembered for his generosity, welcoming smile, and as a friend to many. For years, Chuck worked with individuals with special needs – many of them, Special Olympic Athletes – through the Illinois River Valley Special Recreation Association. These individuals were very important to Chuck and brought him great joy.
His public visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Guidelines regarding social distancing and the wearing of masks will be followed. A private funeral will be held and cremation will be accorded.
