Born March 25, 1950 in Peoria to Charles Shelby and Louise Rixta (Henrichs) Scarcliff, Sr., he married Marla VonAllmen on November 2, 1968 in Mapleton.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years; two sons, Charles “Russ” (Sherylann) Scarcliff of Bartonville and Ryan (Candace) Scarcliff of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Karen (Thomas) Kranz of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Floann Clark and Arla Scarcliff, both of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eva Bonavic.
Chuck was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Era.
He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria in the heat treat engineering department for 38 years retiring in 2010.
A loving and dedicated husband, dad, Grandpa Chuck and great-grandpa, he enjoyed tinkering. He will be remembered for his ability to grow an immaculate garden, especially his tomatoes.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Glasford American Legion Post 35. Cremation will follow the services.
