The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will take place afterwards at 11:00am that same day in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Brandon Memorial Gardens.
He was born on November 10, 1949 to Roy L Gates, Sr and Louis Puckett Gates in Jackson. Roy proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. A member of Cato Baptist Church in Rankin County, Roy had a kind heart and never missed his loved one's birthdays. He loved horses and could also be found fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy L Gates, Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Louis Puckett Gates; sister, Becky Stephens (Ronnie); nephews, Scott Swilley and Tony Swilley (Lori); niece, Kristy Johnson (Gary); and numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and other beloved extended family members.
