Mavis Francis Gorden Wood was born January 14, 1929 and died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Brandon Court.
Visitation is 5:00-8:00pm Friday, November 12, 2010 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 2:30pm Saturday, November 13, 2010 at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Wood was an accomplished seamstress and loved her church activities at McLaurin Heights where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher, WMU leader and Bible School director for many years.
Survivors include daughters, Beverly Hurst (James) and Carolyn Mason (Larry) of Pearl; special niece and caregiver, Totsy Hayes of Pearl; special friends, Flora and Johnny Pennington of Pearl; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-step-grandchildren and brother, Gayle Gorden of Greenville.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons, Ronald McDonald House, Alzheimers Research or McLaurin Heights Baptist Church.
