Leah was deeply loved by her family and her many friends. She was a very outgoing and affectionate young lady. Most people would agree with the words that her basketball coach, Rob Delaney, said “Leah was full of smiles, energy and enthusiasm. She never met a stranger due to her infectious smile. She attacked each day with a heart of love not for herself but for everyone around her. A truly special girl who was loved by all.”
Leah Kendall Cunningham, 16, a sophomore at East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie, passed away December 23 from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was active in Basketball, Soccer and Track. Leah was a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church where she was active in the youth group.
Leah’s parents are Craig and Carmen Cunningham, sisters Brooke of Pelahatchie and Chloe of West Point, and brother Chris (Nicole) of Pensacola, FL. Maternal grandparents Rita Mashburn and the late Jack Mashburn of Pelahatchie. Paternal grandparents Linda Standley, Navarre, FL and Ed and Alma Cunningham, Hartselle, AL. Aunts Monica (Clyde) Edwards, Canton, Melanie (Torsten) Gretz, McComb, MI, nephew Colin Cunningham, cousins Ella and Lila Edwards, Marcus Gretz, Cole and Jack Carson.
Pall Bearers will be Trey Nichols, Peyton McKinion, Jake Smith, Joel Keys, Will Maroney, Dylan White, Trey Rhodes. Honorary Pall Bearers are the ERA Class of 2020.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Pelahatchie Baptist Church with interment to follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
