Affectionately called "Babe" by family members, he was born on July 26, 1943 to the late George Raphael Jones and Frances Elliot Dyle Jones in Jackson, Mississippi. James was a hardworking man and had a long career as a maintenance electrician, first with The Rival Company in Flowood and then many more years with G&O Manufacturing Company who made radiators for commercial and industrial equipment. He also was known to faithfully wake up before daybreak - despite most nights having stayed late at the job - in order to care for and feed the animals on the family farm. The importance of labor and providing for your loved ones is a defining quality he passed onto his descendents, and they cherish his commitment and sacrifices fondly. He loved quiet moments spent riding horses. In addition, James was a tenured member of Johns Baptist Church and recently attended Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Brandon.
In addition to his parents, James was reunited in Heaven with his endearing wife of 54 years, Linda Moree Jones, who preceded him in death by one day shy of a week.
Survivors include son, James "Jimmy" Maurice Jones, Jr (Kim); daughter, Monica Foreman (Jason); siblings, George Jones, Patsy McClain, Linda Neal (Jerome), Robert K."Bob" Jones, and David Jones; grandchildren, Layla Russum (Mike), Reese Jones, Zoe Jones, and Katie Foreman; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other dear extended family members and friends.
In honor of James, please consider making a donation to the MIND Center at https://www.umc.edu/Development/How/Funds/MIND-Center.html in his memory.
