Jack L. Middleton, of Pearl, MS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 following a brief illness. Visitation will be Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with burial to follow at Johns Cemetery. Dr. Keith Grubbs will officiate.
Jack was born on November 17, 1936 to Ollie M. and Ollie Cook Middleton. He grew up in Kennedy Springs MS, and attended Magee High School. In 1955, Jack joined the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he was awarded the Armed Forces Longevity Service CES Award and the Good Conduct Medal.
Upon his honorable discharge from the military in 1959, Jack married Sue Cox of the Johns Community. He remained married to the love of his life for 59 years until her passing in January. They were the proud parents of daughter, Debbie, and son, Chad. He was also a loving and proud “Poppy” to two grandsons, Grayson and Hayes.
Jack provided for his family as a salesman for Jackson Packing Company and Merchants Company. Later, he worked for SAJ until his retirement.
In his free time after he retired, he enjoyed working in the yard – even maintaining three different properties. Known for his humor, Jack loved telling jokes and stories to his Sunday School class at Park Place Baptist Church where he was a longtime member. He and Sue also loved hosting class parties and entertaining.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings: Charles Ray Middleton, Billy Jim Middleton, James Grady Middleton, and Irene Middleton Lott, and brother-in-law: Lamar Cox.
He is survived by his children: Chad and Debbie, grandsons: Grayson and Hayes, sister: Shirley Middleton Adcock, sisters-in-law: Lonnie Cox and Eloise Middleton, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Park Place Baptist Church, 5701 Hwy 80 East, Pearl, MS.
