Carl Eugene Tudor, a long time Rankin County resident, was born on August 4, 1937, in DeWitt Township, Illinois to Ralph Emory Clay Tudor and Tressie Mae Golden. Surrounded by his loved ones, Carl passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Upon graduating from DeWitt High School, Carl entered the United States Air Force in January of 1959 and faithfully served his Country departing an Airman First Class in 1965. He often spoke of the time he spent deployed to Reykjavik, Iceland. After leaving the service, Carl worked for IBM as a customer service engineer and in management for 38 years. Upon retiring from IBM, Carl worked an additional 20 years for HiComp as a sales consultant. During his tenure with IBM, Carl moved to Kentucky where he attended the University of Kentucky and became an avid Wildcat fan up until the day he died, often being sighted wearing blue and white.
Carl was first and foremost a loving and devoted father dedicating much of his time to the Boy Scouts and coaching soccer for the Brandon Soccer League while his children were young in the 80s.
On October 17, 1987, Carl married the love of his life, Linda Carpenter and became a faithful member of Crossgate’s United Methodist Church. Carl had a zest for life and a love of kinship. He enthusiastically served his community in so many different ways throughout his long life. An avid golfer, Carl helped organize the annual golf tournament benefiting the Methodist Children’s Home for many years. He was very involved with The Methodist Men’s Ministry and he and Linda loved their Sunday school class, Pathfinders.
Carl loved riding motorcycles, playing golf, working in his yard, eating sweets, spending time with family and friends, and his grand-daughter, Regan Reed, who lovingly referred to him as “Pops.” Carl and Linda loved to travel and spent many years traveling for work and fun. He spent a great deal of time in Texas when his daughter and her family lived there. He did not want to miss a single milestone, school play or birthday.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Tressie, and sister, Sandra Kay Pinaire. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda of Pearl; his two children, Richard Dean Tudor of Brandon, MS; and Tara (Brent) Reed of Pearl, MS and granddaughter, Regan Reed as well as many friends.
Carl will be greatly missed by all.
The Celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Sunday December 10, 2023 from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at Crossgates United Methodist Church at 23 Crossgates Drive Brandon, MS 39042. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. John Moore and Rev. Robbie Murden officiating. Carl will be interred in a private family ceremony at a later time at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi or to Crossgates United Methodist Church.
