Miss Sekinat Olamitundun Lawani was born in Lagos, Nigeria on the 2nd of December, 1992 to Late Olatunde and Titilola Lawani. She was a beautiful young lady who loved to cook and sing. She began to play the piano as early as the age of five and became a very talented piano player.
She Graduated from Oneida Baptist Institute (OBI) in Oneida KY in May 2010 as an outstanding citizen and scholar. At OBI she was an active member of the school choir and won several awards.
In September 2010, she enrolled at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois where she took up a major in International Relations and a minor in Business Management. While at Knox, she was very active and passionate about extracurricular activities, including The Harambee Club (African Students Group), where she served as the President of the organization until her passing. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority, a Knox Alumni Ambassador, and volunteered in different capacities on campus.
Tundun was a blessing to everyone around her, and had the most infectious smile. She was a confident person with a very optimistic attitude toward life, and impacted so many people positively.
Tundun was also most lovable and endearing, with a heart for service and a passion to give and nurture. These traits made her stand out as the favorite in most circles she found herself in.
Above all, Tundun loved the Lord and served Him faithfully until her passing.
Tundun went to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, October 28th, 2012 when she was struck by a drunk driver while walking with friends on her college campus.
She is survived by her Mother, Helen; Sisters, Omolara and Olawunmi; brothers Oladipo and Itunoluwa; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents.
Celebration of Life services are to be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2:00pm at New City Church, 320 Dividend Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will follow at 3:30pm at Westminster Memorial Gardens, 2090 Hwy 54 W, in Peachtree City.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to support the church youth ministry: Passion Student Ministry, at New City Church, 320 Dividend Drive, Peachtree City, GA, 30269.
