Ernest John Davis Jr., age 89, of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Ernie was born in Cecil, Pennsylvania to his late parents Ernest and Anna Davis. Being the oldest son, his love for farming and its values began very young. After high school he served in the United States Army and Army Corps Reserve. On November 25, 1961 he married the love of his life, Helen Lynette Leeth, and through that union they were blessed with four children, starting a very large family and legacy. He had an entrepreneurial spirit in real estate investments, he loved dancing and even instructed dance for Arthur Murray & Fred Astaire School of Dance in California. Continuing his ventures after moving to Georgia, Ernie, a Master Barber, owned his classic barber shop for 35 years. He loved the fellowship of his clients, friends and co-workers and they all loved him. In later years, he always enjoyed ballroom and square dancing with his treasured, loving wife, Helen. Being an avid sports fan, Duke Basketball, was his favorite, as he loved drinking from his "Duke" mug. And if you are unaware, his favorite three hour movie was "The Big Country".
Ernie was a Godly man and a strong example for the legacy he leaves behind.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen Lynette Davis; his four loving children: sons, Ernest John Davis III and Jeffrey Todd Davis (Sandi); and his daughters: Angela Fay Davis Peterson, (son-in-law Alan Peterson) and Denise Marie Davis Vance; his cherished grandchildren, Bryan Swihart (JoAnne), Christopher Swihart, Steven Vance, Allie Peterson White (Ryan), Kris Peterson, Erik Peterson, Todd Davis (Payton), and Olivia Davis; his adored great-grandchildren, Shane and Isabelle; and many other family and friends who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert (Carole) Davis and Louis Davis.
Ernie touched so many lives in such a special way, always making everyone his friend.
