Charles Herbert Carr passed away at Piedmont Newnan Hospital at the age of 82 on December 31, 2020 due to COVID-19 related pneumonia. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Hazel Carr, his sister, Peggy Carr Warren, and his grandson, Russell Stephen Carr.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Mary Carr, of 41 years. They were married in College Park, Georgia on March 1, 1979.
Charles is lovingly remembered by his children Charles Clifton Carr (Jackie), Tammy Carr Buckley, and Shannon Renee Nardone (Anthony); his grandchildren Kayla (Chad), Lynsey, Christopher (Stephanie), David (Heather), and Megan; his great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Skylie, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Jackson, Angela, Kaylee, Ashley, Cody, and Nivek.
Charles was born on April 30, 1938 in Manchester, Tennessee. He graduated from Coffee County Central High School in 1957. He worked for CSX Transportation Railroad for 37 years. He loved traveling with his wife to many different countries and states including his favorite, Alaska. Charles enjoyed fishing as a hobby. He loved meeting new people, nature, and all animals. Charles and his wife, Mary, frequented many of their favorite restaurants in Fayette County, becoming fast friends with all of their waiters, waitresses, and managers. Charles was loved by all and was known for his friendly, welcoming nature. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone who was willing. He loved to start every morning the same: with a cup of black coffee and watching the birds from his kitchen window. Condolences may be sent to Mary Carr or Shannon Nardone.
Services will be held on February 28, 2021 at 2:00pm at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, 1183 Hwy 92 S, Fayetteville, Georgia, 30215.
