Randy set the bar for how to treat others. Known for his selflessness, he met strangers with the same warmth as family and left a lasting impression of genuine kindness on those who crossed his path. Randy’s example of humility, loyalty, and care is his legacy.
A farmer earlier in life, Randy dedicated more than 30 years of skilled trade as a union insulator, modeling a commitment to his work and apprenticing others. After retirement from Insulators Local 50, he was also an El Camino enthusiast, vintage collector, grill master, champion in family contests, and dog dad to Sadie. As the always resourceful proprietor of the ‘mouse house,’ Randy could be found cruising Ohio’s backroads, working in his vegetable garden, and enjoying his impressive 8-track collection.
Randy was greatly loved and highly respected by his family and community. Born January 17, 1959 to Edith Ann (Bennett) and Jesse Edward Patterson, he was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, wife Traci Patterson; proud father to Tori (Brandon) Stephens and Ryan (Daniel) Paul; grandfather to Mia Paul; brother to Dave (Jeong) Patterson, Rick (Linda) Patterson, Ben (Vicci) Patterson, Paul (Dana) Patterson, sister-in-law Laurie Patterson; and a constant support to extended family, his union, and a tightknit group of neighbors and lifelong friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Thomas, Shirley, and Rex.
Honoring Randy’s wishes for cremation, a casual celebration of life is planned Sunday, October 6 from 2-5pm at Williams Farm (8405 York Rd SW Pataskala).
In recognition of the care he received, donations may be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation, the National Organization of Rare Disorders, or Hospice of Central Ohio.
