Wanda was born August 5, 1944, in Pasadena, Texas to Wilfred and Marguerite (Abel) Brandt. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1962 where she was an All-State member of the choir. Wanda spent many years working for engineering firms after staying home to raise her 3 children. She loved many things related to her Christian faith and Bible Study Fellowship was top of the list along with her church, Christ Memorial Lutheran Church. She loved to pray long-winded prayers right before mealtime at family gatherings always leaving everyone hungry and in stitches. Wanda truly enjoyed her summers in Leakey, Texas on the Frio River and visiting with family on the farm in Yorktown, Texas. She spent many hours on the phone talking to all of her dear friends, and there were many because she never met a stranger. She loved the microphone and the camera and is known for being the resident emcee/photographer at any get together. The number of pictures we have with random waitresses, park rangers and such always makes us smile. But most importantly, she was a loving Granny to her 6 granddaughters and 3 grandsons whom she adored tremendously.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, C. Harlon Dearing. She leaves behind; sons, David Dearing and Christopher Dearing; daughter, Deanna Sparkman; children-in-law, Traci, Kim, Brent; grandchildren, Taylor, Mackenzie, Carson, Tanner, Brady, Presley, Vada, Cambre & Emerson; sister, Margie Riley (Henry); sister-in-law, Shirley Foster (Don); and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The Dearing family would like to give a special thanks to all the healthcare providers who cared for our mom in her battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome at MD Anderson and the team at Morada Senior Living Facility for caring for her daily. Her children would like to express great appreciation for all of the family & friends who helped our mom in any way she needed. Most notably, her sister, Margie Riley, who spent the last 6 years of her life by our mom’s side helping in every way imaginable.
