Steven Wade Whatley, age 56, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. He was born December 06, 1965 in Pasadena, Tx to Wallace and Karen Whatley and moved to Deer Park, Tx in 1966 where he continued to reside until his passing. Steven graduated from Deer Park High School and 1984 and Texas A&M College Station in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Mathematics.
For many years Steven was employed with the Johnson Space Center Houston for various contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and MEI Technologies as a computer programmer for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs. His favorite past times included bird watching, photography, playing cards and board games, theater, High School, and College football (Go Aggies) as well as attending Church and serving his Lord. Steven brought much joy to many friends and followers with his postings of bible worships, scriptures, and amazing bird pictures on Social Media.
Even though Steven was born with a visual impairment he met his everyday challenges head on and overcame his disabilities with determination and perseverance. As someone recently stated, “Steven was his own man and didn’t need any protection.” He had a sweet soul and served as an example of Gods grace to everyone who met him.
His life was a living example of one of his favorite bible verses, Philippians 4:7 – “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Steven is survived by his Father, Wallace R. Whatley Jr, his brother Jeffrey Whatley Sr and his girlfriend Tonya Scott. He also has 4 nephews and nieces, Jeffrey Whatley Jr and his wife April, Jessica Whatley, Dara and husband Kirk Sims, Michelle and her husband David Capi; plus 7 great nephews and nieces.
